I wonder what it would take to get Americans to work the fields? When I was
much younger, I knew guys who did work the fields, and they told me that it
was very hard work. But you are right, those who complain about the cheap
labor taking away jobs from Americans, would also scream bloody murder, "if"
they had to pay much more for the fruits and vegetables they buy, that is
grown in American farms. That is, if the American farms could even compete
with the cheaper fruits and vegetables that would still be produced in
places like Mexico. And if prices increased, it would hurt the very people
who these people say they care about. Because these fruits and vegetables
would cost more to buy, which of course hurts poor people.
